A Silver Alert was canceled Friday morning for a missing 80-year-old man who suffers from dementia and diabetes and was last seen in La Puente.

Juan Tecuanhuehue was last seen in the 1000 block of Van Wig Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

On behalf of the LASD, the California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert for Tecuanhuehue Thursday night.

It was deactivated about 3:30 a.m. with an announcement Tecuanhuehue had been found, but where was not disclosed.

The purpose of the Silver Alert program is to establish a quick response system designed to issue and coordinate alerts following the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of an elderly person, or a person who is developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired, according to the CHP.
