Postal officials announced Tuesday that an Oxford Street location has been chosen for the Woodland Hills Main Post Office.

The post office was relocated to 6101 Owensmouth Ave. on a temporary basis three years ago, after the United States Postal Service’s lease at 22121 Clarendon St. expired.

Postal officials “looked at a number of properties that did not suit the Postal Service’s needs” before identifying the chosen location at 21200 Oxnard St. and agreeing to terms for a long-term lease, according to a USPS statement.

When the new post office opens at its new location — an estimated date was not given — the Postal Service “anticipates providing the same services as were provided to our customers at the previous location and are provided at the temporary location.”

The Postal Service said it plans to continue services at the Owensmouth facility until the replacement facility is open and operating, so there will be no interruption of service.

“While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Woodland Hills community, the Postal Service properly considered community input and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives,” according to the statement.
