A big rig lost hay bales Wednesday morning on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Gorman and another big rig crashed into them, prompting the temporary closure of all four northbound lanes of the freeway.
The accident occurred near state Route 138 about 3:05 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A SigAlert was issued about 4:15 a.m. for all northbound lanes, the CHP said.
One lane was reopened at 7:52 a.m., the CHP reported. The remaining three lanes remained shut down for nearly 16 hours. All lanes were cleared about 6:50 p.m. and the CHP canceled the SigAlert.
Paramedics were called to the scene but it was unclear if anyone was hurt.
