A crash involving two pool-service trucks in Burbank Wednesday spilled more than eight gallons of chlorine and muriatic acid, with some of the chemicals splashing on a man who was tended by a hazmat team at the scene, authorities said.

A 2014 Chevrolet Silveraudo and a 2019 Toyota Tacoma belonging to a separate cleaning company collided around 7 a.m. on the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway at Burbank Boulevard, according to Officer Weston Haver of the California Highway Patrol’s West Valley office.

The chemicals were contained to the roadway and no major seepage happened along the embankment, Haver said.

Two people suffered minor injuries in the collision, but neither required transport to a hospital.

Multiple lanes of the freeway were closed for several hours while crews worked to clean up the spill.
