A fire damaged a Mid-City commercial building Wednesday, but no injuries were reported.

It took 56 firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which broke out for unknown reasons about 4 p.m. in the upper floor of the two-story building in the 5000 block of West Washington Boulevard, near South Sycamore Avenue, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crews got the fire out before it could spread into the attic, Stewart said.
