The Coroner’s Office Saturday released the name of a 21-year-old motorist who was killed in a traffic crash in Diamond Bar, where his passenger also suffered some moderate injuries.
The motorist was identified as Matthew Strudwick, of Diamond Bar, according to the coroner’s office.
Strudwick was driving a 1997 BMW M3 south on SR39 near mile marker 28.64 about 12:30 a.m. Friday when he lost control of the vehicle, California Highway Patrol officials said.
According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, he “failed to drive at a safe speed to negotiate the left curvature on the descending roadway and crossed into the northbound lane,” then crashed into a metal post.
Strudwick died at the scene. His passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, the CHP reported.
Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call the CHP Baldwin Park Area office at 626-338-1164.
