Fire damaged a one-story commercial building in the Florence area Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to the building at 6327 S. Avalon Blvd., near Gage Avenue, about 4 a.m. and encountered fire coming from the structure, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“Fire attack faced challenges initially getting to the seat of the fire due to the contents of the building,” Stewart said. “The roof ventilation division had heavy fire showing from the hole cut into the roof and it quickly subsided once firefighters were able to get water on the fire from the interior.”
What the building contained was not immediately revealed.
A total of 71 firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and a knockdown was called at 4:24 a.m., she said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
