Two vehicles collided Saturday in the Antelope Acres area of Lancaster and caught fire, which spread, setting nearby grass aflame.
The crash was reported just before 7 p.m. at Highway 138 (Avenue D) and 60th Street West, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One vehicle overturned, and both became fully engulfed in flames, which spread into a quarter-acre of grass, the CHP and Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded on the ground and in the air, fire officials said. By 7:45 p.m., they had cleared a line of vegetation around the fire and stopped its forward progress.
