A one-acre brush fire threatened hillside homes in Mount Washington Tuesday afternoon, but 62 firefighters contained the flames before any homes were damaged.
The fire was reported about 6 p.m. in a patch of light brush in the 900 block of West Avenue 37, near San Rafael Avenue, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire was pushed by light wind, but fire crews, assisted by at least one air unit, contained the flames by 6:45 p.m., partly due to “proper brush clearance by the homeowner,” Prange said.
Firefighters were expected to remain on scene Tuesday evening to extinguish remaining hot spots, according to Prange.
No injuries were reported, and the fire’s cause is under investigation.
