Authorities Monday identified a 19-year-old motorist who died in a wrong-way crash on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Irwindale, in which the car she was driving crashed head-on into a FedEx big rig.
Jasmine Gomez of Baldwin Park died at the scene of the collision, which occurred about 10:50 p.m. Saturday on the southbound 605 Freeway north of Ramona Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Gomez was driving a Nissan north on the southbound freeway when the car collided with a Freightliner and ended up wedged underneath the big rig.
The trucker, a 42-year-old man, had complaints of pain and sought his own medical aid, the CHP reported.
Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call the CHP’s Baldwin Park Area office at 626-338-1164.
