Multiple transformers exploded in Alhambra Wednesday evening, knocking power lines onto the street and cutting power to more than 3,000 Southern California Edison customers.
The outage to 3,366 customers was reported about 8 p.m. in an area bordered by Poplar Boulevard on the north, Ramona Road on the south, Atlantic Boulevard on the west and Westmont Drive on the east, according to Julia Roether of Southern California Edison.
By 8:50 p.m., all but 655 customers had their power restored, Roether said.
Information about the outage was not immediately available from Southern California Edison, but KCAL9 reported that multiple transformers exploded, knocking power lines into the street, near Valley Boulevard and the Long Beach (710) Freeway.
