County firefighters Sunday battled a brushfire in Gorman that had charred an estimated 100 acres, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The blaze, which ignited near Gorman Road and the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway, was reported at 6:54 p.m., said county fire Dispatch Supervisor Melinda Choi.

The fire department was using four water-dropping helicopters to battle the blaze. The department also requested assistance from the Los Angeles City Fire Department, which was sending another water-dropping helicopter, said county fire Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or burning structures.
