A fire damaged a two-story commercial building under demolition Tuesday in the downtown Los Angeles area, but no one was hurt.
The fire was reported at the site of a former “cold storage facility” in the 1500 block of East Industrial Street about 11:50 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters went into a defensive mode, pouring water on the building from the exterior to keep the flames from spreading to other structures.
The flames were extinguished in about 70 minutes, said Brian Humphrey of the LAFD.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
