Power was restored Thursday morning to 11,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys after a fire in a power distributing station, but about 1,000 customers remained offline.
Power was shut off to approximately 12,000 customers about 2:30 a.m. when the distributing station was de-energized while Los Angeles firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, the DWP said.
About 5 a.m., the DWP announced 9,000 customers had their power restored, but about 3,000 customers, mostly in Valley Glen, remained without electricity.
Shortly before 9 a.m., the DWP announced that power had been restored to all but 1,000 customers.
Details of what sparked the fire were not immediately available.
