It took about one hour Saturday for firefighters to put out a brush fire near the transition from the northbound Glendale (2) Freeway to the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway in Eagle Rock before it could grow past one acre.

The fire was reported at 1:02 p.m. in heavy brush, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.

Water-dropping helicopters from the LAFD and Glendale and Pasadena fire departments were instrumental in putting out the blaze before it could burn more than one acre, Humphrey said. The flames were out in 59 minutes.

No injuries or structure damage were reported, he said.
