A fire damaged a two-story apartment building Wednesday in Pasadena.
The fire started about 8:45 a.m. in a first-floor unit of the building in the 200 block of Bellevue Drive and spread to the upper floor and through the roof, city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
Firefighters continued their efforts to extinguish the stubborn flames more than an hour after the fire began.
The firefighters rescued a cat from one of the units, Derderian said. No injuries were immediately reported, but some people were being medically evaluated at the scene as a precaution.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
