A brush fire broke out in a difficult-to-reach area of Griffith Park Wednesday evening, but firefighters extinguished the flames in about 45 minutes.
The fire, which grew to nearly a quarter-acre, was reported shortly after 8 p.m. near the Lower Old Zoo Trail, just east of the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters on the ground, assisted by department helicopters, extinguished the flames by 8:50 p.m., and no structures were damaged.
No injuries were reported.
