The Los Angeles Chargers activated starting offensive tackle Trey Pipkins III from the COVID-19 reserve list Saturday, one day after placing him on it because of his close contact with starting right guard Ryan Groy, who has tested positive for the virus.
Pipkins, who started last week at right tackle, has not tested positive for the virus. A player does not have to test positive to be placed on the COVID-19 reserve list.
Groy was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list Thursday afternoon. He was also placed on the injured reserve list Thursday because of a biceps injury suffered in last Sunday’s 39-29 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars and will miss a minimum of three games.
