A brush fire sparked by a traffic accident scorched about two acres in the Topanga area Monday evening before the fire’s progress was stopped by firefighters.
The blaze was reported about 9:15 p.m. near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Fernwood Pacific Drive when a vehicle crash sparked a fire that spread into nearby brush, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
About 10 p.m., the fire department reported progress of the fire had been stopped and crews would remain on scene to mop-up any hot spots.
The fire prompted the closure of Topanga Canyon Boulevard from Pacific Coast Highway to Old Topanga Canyon Road until further notice, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Malibu/Lost Hills station reported.
No injuries were immediately reported.
