At least one person was killed Monday morning in a crash on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Cerritos that caused one vehicle to catch fire.

The crash was reported at 4:26 a.m. on the northbound San Gabriel River Freeway at South Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses told the CHP that two vehicles had collided in the carpool lane and that one was fully engulfed in flames.

Just before 5 a.m., the CHP issued a SigAlert for all northbound lanes of the 605 Freeway and the South Street off-ramp.

No further details were available.
