Dog adoption fees will be reduced by $50 and cat adoption fees will be waived entirely during the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services’ “My Furry Valentine” program on Saturday and Sunday.
“We hope to find loving homes for every pet in the L.A. City Animal Services centers,” said Bill Crowe, director of the Paula Kent Meehan Pet Foundation, which is co-sponsoring the program. “This weekend is the perfect time to fall in love with a new furry friend!”
The foundation provided funding to reduce the dog fees and waive the adult cat fees, while kitten adoption fees will be waived through a grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
“Meet your perfect match during the My Furry Valentine adoption event and welcome a new furry family member into your heart and home,” said Animal Services General Manager Brenda Barnette.
People can visit laanimalservices.com/adopt to look at animals available for adoption, then call 888-452-7381 and provide their possible future pet’s animal ID number or the A# listed on the website. Staff will provide more information on the animal, and if the person is interested in moving forward with the adoption, an appointment to meet the animal is scheduled.
