Electrical service was knocked out Wednesday to some neighborhoods in the Sawtelle area near West Los Angeles due to a fire at a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power receiving station.
Firefighters were sent to the LADWP facility in the 1800 block of Centinela Avenue at 10:16 a.m. and extinguished the flames, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. No one was hurt.
“Our crews are responding to the outage affecting some neighborhoods on the Westside,” the LADWP tweeted late Wednesday morning. “The outage was caused by a fire at one of our receiving stations located nearby.”
The number of affected customers was not immediately available. Restoration of power was expected sometime Wednesday afternoon.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
