Two people were seriously hurt Sunday when a vehicle veered off Highway 74 and struck a tree in Valle Vista.
The single-vehicle crash was reported at 6:27 a.m. in the 44000 block of Highway 74, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle departed the roadway for unknown reasons, tore through a fence and collided head-on with a tree, the CHP reported.
Two people were freed from the wreckage and taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries described as major, authorities said.
