A man who barricaded himself in a residence in the Lake Los Angeles area near Palmdale Thursday has died in a shootout with deputies, according to reports.
Deputies were sent to the area of Rawhide Avenue and 170th Street East about 8:30 a.m. according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and reports from the scene.
The man allegedly fired a shotgun at people who may have been trying to remove large rocks that had been placed across Rawhide Avenue, blocking traffic, according to KTLA5.
The standoff continued until late Thursday morning, when the man was shot by deputies and died at the scene, Channel 5 reported. The sheriff’s department could not immediately confirm that report.
