Firefighters from the U.S. Forest service with an assist from Los Angeles County Fire Department battled a fast-moving brush fire near the Golden State (5) Freeway north of Castaic that scorched an estimated 400 acres and left two firefighters with burn injuries.

The blaze, which has 0% containment so far, was first reported around 3:55 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department acting Dispatch Supervisor Matt Klein.

Firefighters were battling the fire using ground and air resources, including water-dropping helicopters, Klein said.

A water-dropping helicopter has also been sent to assist in the battle against the fire by Los Angeles Fire Department.

The blaze left two firefighters with burn injuries and was threatening structures, according to media reports from the scene.

The California Highway Patrol temporarily shut down the southbound 5 at Vista Del Lago Road and northbound lanes at Templin Highway.

Just after 9 p.m., two lanes were reopened in both directions on the 5 Freeway, Caltrans reported.
