A fire was burning Friday in about 20 acres of brush in a wash in the Whittier Narrows area.
The fire was reported about 1:10 p.m. near Rosemead Boulevard and Gallatin Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It quickly grew to five acres, then to 20 as firefighters from the Los Angeles County and Montebello fire departments were sent to the scene.
Road closures were put into in effect for Rosemead Boulevard between Beverly Boulevard and Durfee Avenue, Lincoln Avenue between San Gabriel Boulevard and Avenue De La Merced, and San Gabriel Boulevard between Santa Anita Avenue and Lincoln for an unknown duration.
The fire was 0% contained as of about 4 p.m. Friday.
