A woman has settled her lawsuit with the producers of the “Dr. Phil” show in which she alleged she was injured on an unsafe flight of stairs while she was a member of the show’s audience in 2018.
Lawyers for plaintiff Diane Burney filed a request for dismissal of the case with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael E. Whitaker in light of the settlement. No terms were divulged.
The suit filed in May 2020 named as defendants Paramount Pictures Corp., Peteski Productions Inc., CBS Interactive Inc., CBS Television Inc., Harpo Productions Inc. and King World Productions.
Burney was a member of the audience on the show, filmed at the Dr. Phil’s Studio on the Paramount Pictures Corp. studio lot on May 16, 2018, when she tripped and fell while walking up the stairs, according to the suit.
Burney alleged the stairs were “raised and uneven” and had no handrail.
In addition to unspecified physical injuries, Burney suffered severe emotional distress, her suit alleged.
