Firefighters Saturday evening put out flames that engulfed the garage attached to a two-story Porter Ranch house but kept the fire from spreading into the home.

The fire was reported at 7:45 p.m. at 11865 N. Laughton Way, east of Reseda Boulevard and north of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

Heavy fire was showing when firefighters arrived, Humphrey said. Two cars were also engulfed in flames.

It took the 31 firefighters 25 minutes to put out the flames and save the house, which has a total of 2,314 square feet, he said. No injuries were reported.
