Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in an apartment building in the Westlake district early Thursday.
Firefighters were called at 1:38 a.m. to 2325 W. Ocean View Ave., between Alvarado Street and Rampart Boulevard, where they encountered flames coming out of a single unit of a three-story center-hall apartment house, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire was in one unit on the third floor and the flames were held in check by the building sprinklers, Prange said.
Thirty-six firefighters put the fire out in 12 minutes.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Prange said.
