An overturned semi truck prompted a closure of the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Sylmar area Wednesday.
The collision was reported at about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday on the overpass from the southbound side of the freeway to the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck’s accident sent some chunks of concrete onto the 5 Freeway below, possibly damaging a few cars, according to news footage from the scene.
Lanes were closed for an unknown duration to allow authorities to investigate the collision and clear the area, and traffic was diverted onto the southbound and northbound truck lanes.
The southbound 5 Freeway was closed between Highway 14 and San Fernando Road, while two lanes were open on the northbound 5, with traffic backed up to the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway.
No injuries were immediately reported.
