County authorities Tuesday identified the woman who was killed in a traffic crash involving big rigs on Christmas Eve.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office named Veronica Aguirre Jaimes, 67, as the person who died in the crash.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 8:07 a.m. Dec. 24 to the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Stadium Way near Dodger Stadium in Elysian Park, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The collision that killed Jaimes included at least a half dozen vehicles and injured several others, according to Prange.

Jaimes, who was pronounced dead at the scene, died of traumatic injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

“One patient who was transported required extrication by firefighters with hydraulic rescue tools,” Prange said.

A 29-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were taken to hospitals in unknown conditions and four other people injured in the crash declined assistance.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
