A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on a freeway overpass in South Los Angeles, authorities said Wednesday.

California Highway Patrol officers responded at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway and South Hoover Street where they found the pedestrian lying near the freeway’s center divider, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of a sedan who allegedly struck the pedestrian remained at the scene.

The collision closed the freeway for approximately three hours as the CHP conducted their investigation of the collision, Kravig said.
