The 10th increase in 11 days pushed the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to its highest amount since Nov. 30 Sunday, $4.994.

The average price has risen 7.3 cents over the past 11 days, including two-tenths of a cent Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It rose eight consecutive days, was unchanged Friday and resumed increasing Saturday.

The average price is 3.7 cents more than one week ago and 5.3 cents higher than one month ago but 99.4 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.50 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5.

The Orange County average price dropped four-tenths of a cent for the second consecutive day to $4.93 following a run of seven increases in eight days totaling 7.8 cents.

The Orange County average price is 2.9 cents more than one week ago and 6 cents higher than one month ago but 94.7 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.529 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5.

The national average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.564, one day after remaining unchanged. It is 2.6 cents more than one week ago but 1.9 cents less than one month ago and 98.4 cents lower than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.452 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“Gas demand has fallen nearly 10 percent since the holiday, as folks have returned to their day-to-day driving routines,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager.

“Typically, this would lower gas prices, but such a move is being countered for now by the increasing cost for oil, the main ingredient in gasoline.”
