Investigators sought the public’s assistance Friday for information leading to the driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in East Los Angeles fled the scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a silver Honda Pilot struck the pedestrian around 7:05 p.m. Tuesday on South Downey Road just south of Hubbard Street, then kept driving southbound on Downey toward Telegraph Road.

CHP officials said the Honda Pilot sustained front-end damage in the collision.

The name of the pedestrian who was killed was not immediately released.

Anyone with information regarding the fatal hit-and-run collision was asked to contact Investigator C. Oviedo or Public Information Officer M. Lizzaraga at 323-980-4600.
