Comunidades IndÃgenas en Liderazgo (CIELO), along with other indigenous organizations, leaders, and community members, are holding a press conference Monday at 9 AM at 500 Temple Street to celebrate the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors’ decision to proclaim December 2023 as Indigenous Migrants Month in Los Angeles County.
The group is a women-led indigenous organization fighting for the rights of indigenous migrant communities and seeks to express the importance of this proclamation as a step forward to recognize and appreciate the valuable contributions made by Indigenous migrant communities to the city’s economy, culture, and social fabric.
CIELO will convene a press conference at 500 W Temple Street on December 18th, marked as International Migrants Day. After remarks, community members from cultural organizations will showcase traditional music and dances from indigenous communities.
