The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Saturday for 34th consecutive day and 77th time in 78 days, decreasing 1.3 cents to $4.737, its lowest amount since Feb. 15.
The average price has dropped $1.578 over the past 78 days, including 2.4 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 10.3 cents less than one week ago and 40.6 cents lower than one month ago, but 22.5 cents more than one year ago.
The average price has decreased $1.757 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The average price dropped 43 consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Nov. 12, then resumed decreasing the next day.
The Orange County average price dropped 1.5 cents to $4.57, its lowest amount since Feb. 3. It is 10.1 cents less than one week ago and 42.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 18.5 cents more than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has decreased $1.889 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022, including 1.6 cents Friday.
“While pump prices are declining, they are higher than at this time last year because wholesale gasoline prices have not dropped as far as last year,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The national average price dropped for the 16th consecutive day, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.075. It is 9.2 cents less than one week ago, 26.7 cents lower than one month ago and 10.3 cents cheaper than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped 17.3 cents over the past 16 days, including 1.7 cents Friday. It has decreased $1.941 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
