Jay Leno is seeking a conservatorship over his 77-year-old wife, Mavis Leno, who has Alzheimer’s disease.
Leno, 73, filed the Los Angeles Superior Court petition Friday and a hearing is scheduled April 9 before Judge Deborah L. Christian.
The couple married in 1980. Mavis Leno is a philanthropist and feminist who keeps a low profile compared to her comedian husband, a former host of “The Tonight Show.”
However, Mavis Leno has been a persistent critic of the Taliban’s treatment of women in Afghanistan.
