The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the fourth time in six days following a 23-day streak of increases totaling 27.2 cents, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.793.
The average price is 1.3 cents less than one week ago and 4 cents lower than one year ago but 23.7 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.701 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The average price dropped four-tenths of a cent Sunday, rose two-tenths of a cent Monday, was unchanged Tuesday and resumed decreasing Wednesday.
The Orange County average price dropped for the fifth time in seven days following a run of 21 increases in 22 days totaling 33.7 cents, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.746. It is 2.1 cents less than one week ago and 5.7 cents lower than one month ago but 29.6 cents more than one month ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped $1.713 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022. It dropped three-tenths of a cent Saturday and Sunday, rose three-tenths of a cent Monday and two-tenths of a cent Tuesday and resumed decreasing Wednesday.
“Although refinery maintenance continues to cause some production outages in Southern California, indications are that the regular unleaded gasoline supply is sufficient for now,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The national average price dropped for the sixth time in seven days following a 10-day streak of increases totaling 13.9 cents, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.267. It is 1.7 cents less than one week ago and 12.6 cents lower than one year ago but 18.3 cents more than one month ago.
The national average price dropped two-tenths of a cent Saturday and three-tenths of a cent Sunday, was unchanged Monday, and resumed decreasing Tuesday. It has dropped $1.749 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
