A man was killed Saturday morning during a crash involving a white SUV at a freeway transition road in the Pico-Union community of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 5:10 a.m. at a freeway conversion road connecting the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway, near the Washington Boulevard off-ramp, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said the white SUV rolled over and went about 20 feet down an embankment.

Juan Ortiz, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.

A Sigalert issued at 5:48 a.m., closing the freeway conversion road connecting the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway, was cancelled at 8:18 a.m., the CHP said.
