The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County recorded its largest decrease since Dec. 7 Friday, dropping 1.3 cents to $4.719.
The average price has dropped 10 of the past 11 days, decreasing 6.5 cents, including a half-cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose four-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.
The average price is 3.8 cents less than one week ago and 21.1 cents lower than one year ago but 11.3 cents more than a month ago. It has dropped $1.775 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 11th time in 12 days, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $4.678, one day after dropping eight-tenths of a cents It has fallen 7.2 cents over the past 12 days. The Orange County average price decreased seven consecutive days, rose four-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.
The Orange County average price is 4.1 cents less than one week ago and 21.8 cents lower than one year ago but 10.9 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.781 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Even with the latest price declines, Southern California gas prices are up by more than 30 cents a gallon in most areas since the start of the year,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“However, pump prices at this time last year were almost $5 a gallon.”
The national average price dropped four-tenths of a cent to $3.106, following three consecutive increases totaling 1.3 cents. It is eight-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 3.5 cents lower than a month ago and 29.1 cents below what it was one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.91 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
