The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the third consecutive day, decreasing 1.4 cents to $4.896.

The average price has dropped 3.1 cents over the previous three days, including 1.2 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 1.5 cents less than one week ago and 45.2 cents lower than one year ago, but 19.3 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.598 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022. It decreased three-tenths of a cent Sunday and rose three-tenths of a cent Monday.

The Orange County average price recorded its largest decrease since Oct. 29, dropping 1.9 cents to $4.841. It has dropped four consecutive days, decreasing 4.8 cents, including 1.3 cents Wednesday.

The Orange County average price is 3.5 cents less than one week ago and 47.3 cents lower than one year ago, but 18.1 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.618 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the fifth time in six days following a run of 11 increases in 12 days totaling 14.2 cents, decreasing 1.3 cents to $3.222. It has dropped 4.6 cents over the past six days, including 1.1 cents Wednesday.

The national average price is 3.8 cents less than one week ago and 39.7 cents lower than year ago but 13.3 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.794 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
