Ethan Zane Browne, the model/actor son of musician Jackson Browne, was found dead at his home on Tuesday, his father announced Wednesday. He was 52.

A statement on Jackson Browne’s official Instagram account said, “It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away. We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment.”

His death is noted on the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office website, which lists the cause of death as “deferred,” meaning additional testing will be needed to verify the cause.

Ethan Browne was born in Los Angeles on Nov. 2, 1973, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His mother, Phyllis Major, was Jackson Browne’s first wife.

Browne worked as a model and actor, appearing in the films “Raising Helen” — which starred Kate Hudson, John Corbett and Joan Cusack — and “Hackers,” which starred Jonny Lee Miller and Angelina Jolie. He also appeared in The WB superhero series “Birds of Prey.”

Jackson Browne has another son, filmmaker Ryan Browne, 43.
