A makeshift memorial Tuesday marks the spot in Playa del Rey where a 36-year-old pregnant woman riding bikes with her family was struck and killed by a vehicle in a crash that also took the life of the child she carried.
The crash happened at about 6 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Pershing Drive and Manchester Avenue.
Regan Cole-Graham, who was seven months pregnant with her third child, a girl, was riding with her husband and two children when she was hit by a vehicle whose driver stopped as required by law.
Cole-Graham’s daughter was delivered, but died in the neonatal intensive care unit at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, according to a GoFundMe page launched to help the woman’s husband with funeral expenses and to assist the children.
As of about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, $173,533 had been raised toward a goal of $210,000.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected as factors in the crash, police said.
