Weekend lane and ramp closures were announced Wednesday for the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Pico Rivera for a paving project.
The closures will take place from Whittier Boulevard to Washington Boulevard between Friday night and Monday morning, with no full freeway closure, as follows:
–Southbound 605 will be reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday and to two lanes from 4 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday;
–Southbound 605 will be reduced to one lane from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday; and
–All southbound lanes will reopen to the public by 5 a.m. Monday.
As for ramps:
–The southbound 605 off-ramp to westbound Washington Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday;
–The off-ramp to eastbound Washington Boulevard and to Saragosa Street will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday;
–The eastbound Washington Boulevard on-ramp to southbound 605 will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday;
–The westbound Washington Boulevard on-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday;
–The southbound Slauson Avenue off-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday; and
–The eastbound and westbound Whittier Boulevard on-ramps will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
More 55-hour extended weekend lane reductions are scheduled through 2026.
On Friday night, the demolition will occur on southbound from Whittier Boulevard to Washington Boulevard and residents and businesses located in this area may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with demolition activities.
The work is part of the $260 million Super 605 freeway corridor projects to rehabilitate the freeway from Long Beach to the San Gabriel Valley.
