Authorities are searching for an incarcerated person who walked away from a Male Community Reentry Program in Los Angeles Sunday.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials discovered that Jose Barrios had removed his GPS device around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, according to authorities.

Officials launched a search and conducted an emergency count of the program, confirming Barrios was missing. They said it’s possible Barrios left the area in a white vehicle.

Local law enforcement agencies were assisting in the search.

Barrios, 24, is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 157 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and black shoes.

Based on a photo released by the CDCR, Barrios appears to have at least one facial tattoo. There appear to be black lines tattooed on his lower jaw, and possibly in his left temple/upper cheek area.

Barrios entered the program on Sept. 27, 2023.

He was sentenced to seven years for second-degree robbery with an enhancement for use of a firearm. Anyone who sees Barrios or has knowledge of his whereabouts was urged to contact any law enforcement agency, call 911, or contact Agent Greenwood at 661-979-1187.
