Desert Healthcare District CEO Chris Christensen has been terminated from his role effective immediately, though officials were not revealing the reason for the action Wednesday.
The board voted to terminate Christensen during Tuesday night’s meeting.
“The board in closed session voted unanimously (to) terminate the CEO without cause in accordance with the terms of his contract,” the board’s legal counsel said during the meeting.
According to the board of directors meeting agenda, members discussed Christensen’s employee performance evaluation in a closed session meeting.
Christensen was unable to be reached for comment and further details regarding his termination were not immediately provided.
Board President Kimberly Barraza raised concerns about his judgment and ethics, and Christensen defended himself against those claims during the meeting, KESQ reported.
He had served as CEO since June 2024.
