Authorities Thursday were continuing to investigate the death of a man whose vehicle crashed in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area of Los Angeles after an apparent car-to-car shooting last night.
Deputies responded to a traffic collision at approximately 7:35 p.m. Wednesday to the 6600 block of Holmes Avenue, south of Gage Avenue and west of Alameda Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. About the same time, the California Highway Patrol received a report of a car-to-car shooting in the vicinity.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the crash and pronounced a man dead at the scene. Sheriff’s officials said he had been struck by gunfire. His cause of death was not immediately determined.
Authorities did not explain what the vehicle crashed into.
According to the sheriff’s department, another man, a woman and a teenage boy were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening, crash-related injuries. But it was unexplained if other vehicles or pedestrians were involved, and so it was unclear how they came to be injured.
There was no description of a suspect vehicle involved in the apparent car shooting.
