The Pasadena Chorale will present nine free concerts ranging from Mozart and Baroque works to contemporary music and world premieres during its 2026-27 season.
The season will feature performances by four ensembles — the Pasadena Chorale, Pasadena Choral Society, High Notes youth choir and a 16-voice ensemble of selected Pasadena Chorale singers, according to the organization.
The season will open Nov. 18 with the Pasadena Chorale performing Mozart’s “Mass in C-Minor” at First United Methodist Church Pasadena.
“Every concert this season is an invitation to step away from the ordinary and experience something together: something that transports you, moves you, and stays with you,” Jeffrey Bernstein, founding executive and artistic director, said in a statement. “We invite you to take this journey with us.”
The Pasadena Choral Society, which completed its inaugural full season earlier this year, has grown from 45 to 85 singers following auditions in April, according to the organization. Its performances will be held at San Marino Community Church.
The Pasadena Chorale will return Dec. 9 with “The Light of Hope Returning,” featuring High Notes, followed by the Pasadena Choral Society’s “Baroque Christmas” concert Dec. 16.
The 2027 portion of the season will begin March 10 with “Awakenings,” performed by the 16-voice ensemble at San Marino Community Church.
Other concerts include “The Explorers: Part 1” on April 7, featuring Reena Esmail’s “Earth Speaks,” which was composed for the Pasadena Chorale in 2015; the High Notes’ annual “Spring Sing” on May 3; and the Pasadena Choral Society’s performance of the Duruflé “Requiem” on May 12.
The Pasadena Chorale will perform Vaughan Williams’ “A Sea Symphony” as part of “The Explorers: Part 2” on June 9.
The season will conclude June 19 with “Listening to the Future” at Pasadena Presbyterian Church, featuring world premieres by young composers.
Founded in 2009, the Pasadena Chorale operates the Pasadena Chorale and Pasadena Choral Society auditioned community choirs, the High Notes choir for students in grades six through 12 and its 16-voice ensemble.
