The southbound San Diego (405) Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass will be reduced to three lanes beginning Friday evening and continuing through early Monday as crews perform work on a $143.7 million pavement rehabilitation project.

The lane reductions will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue until 5 a.m. Monday between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive, according to Caltrans.

Caltrans reminded motorists Friday to seek alternate routes and consider public transportation during the extended weekend work. Northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway will not be reduced.

The Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 405 will be closed, along with the southbound 405 off-ramp to Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard and the Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound freeway.

The northbound 405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive will also be closed.

Residents and businesses near the construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust, according to the agency.

The work is part of the I-405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Van Nuys and Westwood through the Sepulveda Pass. The project is intended to improve safety and mobility and extend the life of the freeway pavement.
