A traffic jam foiled a woman’s attempt to elude police during a chase that started in La Habra Monday afternoon.

The motorist refused to pull over when police attempted to make a traffic stop about 1:30 p.m. because it appeared the vehicle she was driving was stolen, La Habra police Lt. Dean Capelletti said.

The chase, which at times reached high speeds, wound its way through surface streets in Brea and Fullerton before ending on Euclid Street near the Riverside (91) Freeway just before 1:50 p.m., Capelletti said.

“She obeyed commands when she saw she couldn’t go anywhere,” he said. “She was taken into custody without much hoopla.”

The woman’s name was not immediately released.
